Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi has been the resident Alim at Masjid-e-Ali for the past five years. He is active in all programmes and events that take place at Masjid-e-Ali and is a source of guidance for the community and management alike.
His tenure has been characterised by marked progress at Masjid-e-Ali. He has overseen the recent move from 1A Beech Road to 12 Moor Street and the introduction of various regular programmes at Masjid-e-Ali.
Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi as our resident Alim leads daily prayers, Jummah prayers, conducts children's Quran Classes in the evenings, and is a regular speaker at Majalis and Jashan events held at Masjid-e-Ali. He is often sought for advice by many momineen from Luton and beyond. Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi is known for his warm personality, his mild manner and his excellent rapport with youngsters.
Short Biography
Maulana Syed Muhammad Sibtain Kazmi was born on 5th January 1960 in a village called 'Muhammad Ali Wala' in Sargodha Pakistan. He is one of five sons of Allama Syed Ghulam Shabir Najafi. He also has two sisters.
His father, Allama Syed Ghulam Shabir Najafi was a renowned scholar of his time and studied in the Iraqi city of Najaf from 1960 to 1965. He passed away in 1988 in Sargodha.
Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi has five offspring, all of whom are currently resident with him in the UK and are equally active in Masjid-e-Ali programmes. He started school after completing his early Islamic education. After completing his Matriculation he enrolled at Madressa Muhammadia in Sargodha and studied there from 1975 to 1979.
In 1979 the Islamic Revolution in Iran provided the perfect opportunity to Maulana Syed Sibtain Kazmi to visit the Hawza at Qum. He studied in Qum from 1979 to 1987. During his time at Qum he regularly attended Dars of Ayatullah Khomeini (Ruhollah).
He returned to Pakistan in 1987 and after his fathers demise took over as Resident Alim at Al-Qaym Masjid wa Imambargah in Sargodha. Whilst at Al-Qaym he regularly attended the UK for Muharrum Programmes in various cities.
After arriving in the UK for residence in 2003 he became resident Alim at Masjid-e-Ali, Luton.
